This couple (+ baby Shaliese, Belle, Adam and Trey) didn’t want to leave their name or their story. They simply said they came to Ypsi for a new beginning.
Ypsi Project : Joe and Rachel Montgomery (via ericarhiannon)
Joe Montgomery: ” Parents moved here when I was one. Went to Ypsi schools. I’ve worked at the Ypsi Co-op and been involved in Bike Ypsi, but now I live in Grand Rapids. I hope to move back here as soon as I graduate from college.”
Rachel Montgomery: ” I moved her at 1.5 years old and me my husband 19 years later, even though he lived only a mile from my house. Now we’re in Grand Rapids. We miss home and want to have a family here. I want to spend the rest of my life painting in Ypsi.”

Mike (on the right): “Raised here, moved away for school…came back. You get the joke, right?”
Nick (on the left): “I moved here because I had to.”

Mike and I almost enthusiastically tackled poor Laura because we thought she was someone else, not that we were disappointed to find that she was not the person we thought she was, quite the contrary.
She was gracious enough to tolerate us and write a little in one of the Ypsi Project notebooks;
“myspace, roadkill, theillalogicalspoon, servitor sanctum 7, pangea piercing, arrested by ypsi police for graffiti, matt nisbett, el too, lived in ypsi her whole life, worked at ypsi co-op and vg kids, dumpster diver and welder.”
She forgot pretty.

“I moved to Ypsi in 2006 from Escanaba, MI (that’s in the UP) to study cello/music ed. at EMU. So, I live in Ypsi now in a house with three friends, to to school at EMU, work here at Bombadill’s and as the EMU symphony orchestra secretary. I also teach cello lessons and just spent the summer as a counselor at Interlochen Arts Camp. Umm, what else…..I’m obsessed with Bikram yoga and cooking and baking vegan food. And, that’s about it.

April moved to Ypsi from Texas. She loves Ypsi even though her heart is in Texas. She thinks Ypsi has the best 4th of July parade ever!!
